Why It Works

Wood-degrading fungi are built to break down lignin and cellulose, and they do their best work in an acidic-to-neutral range of roughly pH 5.5–6.5. Rather than push against that, W-02 preserves it.

Only a tiny fraction of hydrated lime is included — just enough to buffer against extreme pH drops that can occur during pasteurization, without lifting the substrate out of the wood-lovers’ preferred zone.

The real engine of this blend is its high peptide load. These voracious eaters demand a large, accessible supply of organic nitrogen to power aggressive colonization and heavy fruiting. Paired with trace-mineral remineralization and natural growth compounds from kelp or alfalfa, the result is a substrate primed for dense, heavy flushes.

How to Use

The Golden Ratio

Add W-02 at 2% to 4% of the total dry weight of your hardwood sawdust or chopped straw base, measured before hydration. Mix thoroughly into the dry material, then hydrate as usual.

Lion’s Mane note: Use a maximum of 2%. This species is sensitive to over-supplementation, and a lighter hand produces better results.

Quick Reference

For a standard 5 lb fruiting bag built from 450g of dry hardwood pellets and 100g of dry wheat bran, add:

15 g to 20 g of Formula W-02 to the dry mix.

Blend it in evenly before adding water so the amendment distributes throughout the substrate rather than pooling in one spot.
