Why It Works

The core strategy behind M-01 is simple: raise the pH, hold the line, and feed conservatively.

The blend leans on calcium hydroxide (hydrated lime) to lift the substrate’s initial pH to roughly 7.5–8.0. That alkaline range acts as a chemical wall against Trichoderma (green mold) and other opportunistic competitors that thrive in neutral-to-acidic conditions. Your target fungi, meanwhile, tolerate and colonize through this window with ease.

At the same time, the peptide load is deliberately restrained. A conservative nitrogen hit gives mycelium the fuel it needs to run without over-nutrifying the substrate, the kind of excess that leads to souring and spoilage before colonization can finish the job.

The result is a substrate that’s harder to contaminate and better structured for the fungus you actually want.

How to Use

The Golden Ratio

Add M-01 at 3% to 5% of the total dry weight of your base substrate, measured before hydration. Mix thoroughly into the dry material, then hydrate as usual.

Quick Reference

For a standard 650g brick of dry compressed coco coir — the kind you’d typically mix with about 2 quarts of vermiculite for a classic bulk batch — add:

30 g to 40 g of Formula M-01 to the dry mix.

Blend it in evenly before adding water so the amendment distributes throughout the substrate rather than pooling in one spot.
